An evening of Sufi Music featuring Rabbi Shergill & Band
Sept 19, 2026|5.00 – 6.30 PM (EDT)
A performance that brings together poetry, folk traditions and contemporary independent music.
Rabbi Shergill is one of the world's most distinctive South Asian independent musicians, known for blending Punjabi folk/ Sufi poetry with rock music & a sound texture that is uniquely his own. Rabbi journeys through the many genres of Urdu poetry that have been sung and cherished across the world, weaving each performance with the fascinating story behind its form. As music and narrative come together, he takes the audience on a captivating exploration of the richness, diversity, and timeless beauty of the Urdu poetic tradition.
His breakthrough with Bulla Ki Jaana introduced a generation to the poetry of legendary Sufi poet Bulleh Shah in a form that felt entirely contemporary. Since then, Rabbi has built a body of work that moves comfortably between folk, rock, poetry and film music, without fitting neatly into any one of them.
At Shaam-e-Rekhta, Rabbi brings his signature voice and evocative songwriting for an evening of music shaped by lyrical depth, introspection and the enduring power of Urdu's various music genres.
